With privacy and data protection under heavy public scrutiny, Google’s Public Policy team needed to explain its diligent method of handling sensitive requests for personal information from government agencies.

We teamed up with Screen Novelties, an incredible team of animators and puppeteers, to craft an explainer video that confronts a sensitive issue with humanity, sensitivity, and humor.

To simplify what is a very complicated process, our idea was to tell the journey with many forks in the road on a game board. There were so many individuals and organizations involved in the process we assigned each a game piece. We designed a game board that mapped out the complex and sometimes repetitious journey of a request as it gets fulfilled or rejected.
